If you have dreams of grabbing one of the Team Leader slots for the 2010 World Radiosport Team Championships in Russia, then you better act fast, because the deadline for submitting your entry is on October 1.
Already a number of entries are in from contesters all around the world, as they aim for a spot in next year's WRTC, but a quick look at the applications received so far show that there may be room for some who weren't at the top of their qualifying region.
Take NA #2 for example, the region that covers part of W4, and all of W8 and W9 in the United States, where two team leader spots are available.
As of late last week, points leader Mike Wetzel W9RE had not sent in an entry, amid some talk that he might not be planning a trip to Russia next year.
That set off a flurry of entries from people below second place Scott Robbins W4PA, who was second behind W9RE in WRTC qualifying in that region.
Four others had sent in entries by Sunday, including N4TZ, K9GY, N2WN and W1NN.
The same kind of issue exists in other regions, like Africa and Japan (AS #1), where at this point, no one has submitted a Team Leader entry. (Each of those regions get one team in WRTC 2010.)
While the days before the deadline seem likely to generate additional entries, other regions are short on applicants as well according to the WRTC 2010 website.

At the WRTC web site you can not only see which stations have sent in their entries, but also click on their calls to see how they arrived at their score.
Your final score represents the best eight qualifying scores from WRTC contests over the past three years.
Remember - this does not assure them a spot in Russia next year - as each station must submit an entry to the WRTC organizers by October 1.
