After months of close battles in both of Canada's qualifying regions, VE3DZ and VE7CC have emerged on top in the chase for two team leader slots to the 2010 World Radiosport Championships in Russia.
In the East, Yuri Onipko VE3DZ prevailed in his fight with Ron Vander Kraats VE3AT. Onipko led by only 34 points going into the final three contests, but emerged with an edge of over 500 points.
The key for VE3DZ was a trip to South America for the 2008 CQ WW CW contest, giving him 950 WRTC points. He also scored well in Russian DX, taking home 876, to the max 910 for VE3AT.
Vander Kraats though could not match Onipko in the CQ WW contests from 2008.
Out West in NA #6, Lee Sawkins VE7CC grabbed the lead early this year and never let go, as he threw in three more top finishes to ensure his win over VE6EX.
Sawkins won 760 WRTC points from multi-op efforts in both legs of the 2008 CQ WW contests and then won the maximum 910 WRTC points from the 2009 Russian DX test to clinch his WRTC spot.
Both VE3DZ and VE7CC sent in their respective team leader entries to represent Canada.
The Russian qualifying criteria give Canada a pair of teams for the 2010 competition, one from each region.

(Radio-sport.net has tried to be as accurate as possible. If you find a mistake, or that your score line is missing a contest result, please send us an email and we will be happy to check and correct the numbers.)
The qualifying rules allow you to submit your top eight scores from certain contests. No more than four may be from multi-operator efforts.
You will note that some scores in the spreadsheets have been colored in. All multi-ops are noted with a yellow background. Scores from a contest operation outside of your home WRTC region are colored in blue.
A score that was both outside your home region and from a multi-op has a purple color.
At the WRTC web site you can not only see which stations have sent in their entries, but also click on their calls to see how they arrived at their score.
Your final score represents the best eight qualifying scores from WRTC contests over the past three years.
Remember - this does not assure them a spot in Russia next year - as each station must submit an entry to the WRTC organizers by October 1.
