Heavy Hitters Make Their Moves In Latest US/Canada WRTC Update

By Jamie Dupree NS3T  radio-sport.net

With less than a year left now in qualifying for the 2010 World Radiosport Team Championships in Russia, some very familiar calls are making a move in the latest results produced by radio-sport.net

In the East Coast region known as NA #1, Randy Thompson K5ZD is now in the lead for three team leader slots, thanks to strong finishes in both the 2008 NA CW Sprint and 2007 November Sweepstakes CW contest.

Those two gave K5ZD over 1200 points and lifted him to a slim 29 point lead over Howie Hoyt N4AF.

In third is WRTC vet Dan Street K1TO, who won the NA #1 region in the NA Sprint CW, giving him the full 600 qualifying points for that contest.

Change is also in the air in NA #3, which covers the W5 and W0 call areas in the US.

There, Jim George N3BB is now in first, thanks to his own top finishes in the 2008 NA Sprint CW and 2007 SS CW.

George has a 208 point lead now on Steve London N2IC, who was the winner of SS CW and won NA #3 in the CW Sprint, giving him all 1300 possible points from those two contests.

Those two now lead the battle for the two team leader slots from the NA #3 region.
