Making the best of the results from the 2007 WAE SSB, IARU and CQ WPX SSB contests, Vitor Santos PY2NY has built a strong lead in the all-Brazil qualifying region in South America (SA #1) while the new leader in SA #2 is Lucas Maiorov LU1FAM.
Santos used a high power win in IARU and strong finishes in WAE SSB and WPX SSB to add over 1700 points to his totals, giving him an over 900 point lead on Luciano Moreira PY8AZT.
Moreira had been within 84 points of PY2NY back in December, but PY8AZT only clocked WRTC qualifying results in WPX SSB.
Over in SA #2, the top five is all from Argentina, as LU1FAM leads in a very close race over Juan Pablo Merce LU4DX, with a difference of only 27 points.
Both Maiorov and Merce were teammates at the LR4F and LT1F multi-ops for IARU and WPX SSB. But LU4DX added on a low power regional win in WAE SSB for an extra 518 points, boosting him into second place.
December's SA #2 leader, Joop Bok P43JB, did not have results from any of the three contests added into the standings since then, and as a result, he dropped to 9th place.
Under the 2010 WRTC rules, one team leader qualifies from each of South America's two regions.
Here are the top five operators from SA #1 as found by radio-sport.net. A full spreadsheet link for each region is available.
SA #1 is Brazil.

(Radio-sport.net has tried to be as accurate as possible. If you find a mistake, or that your score line is missing a contest result, please send us an email and we will be happy to check and correct the numbers.)
Please remember that it is your responsiblity to track your progress and submit your score to the WRTC sponsors.
The qualifying rules allow you to submit your top eight scores from certain contests. No more than four may be from multi-operator efforts.
You will note that some scores in the spreadsheets have been colored in. All multi-ops are noted with a yellow background. Scores from a contest operation outside of your home WRTC region are colored in blue.
A score that was both outside your home region and from a multi-op has a purple color.
The qualifying rules stipulate that no more than four of your eight best scores can come from a multi-operator effort - AND no more than four of your scores can be from outside your "home" region.
On the far right of the spreadsheet, some stations have a list of how many multi-op scores and how many are DX. It is mainly noted for those who are over the limit or close to it.
