Keyed by a first place regional finish in the 2007 CQ WW SSB Contest, Tonno Vahk ES5TV has jumped into the lead in EU #3, while the leaders of the four other European qualifying regions maintained their advantage with the addition of last year's CQ WW DX results.
The top overall score in Europe is still held by Vladimir Askenov RW1AC, as he leads the all-Russian EU #5 region with 6,242 points. Not far off that pace is Ladislav Vegh OM2VL, who still leads what may be the toughest region in Europe, EU #2.
21 team leader slots are at stake in Europe.
in EU #1, Philippe Nouchi F6IFY saw his lead over Matteo Marzilli IZ3EYZ shrink to 182 points. Marzilli can still add in another single op score, which would easily put him over the top and into first place.
Filipe Lopes CT1ILT remains in third place, but now there is a new name is the fourth and last team leader slot, as Jacques Saget F6BEE added over 1200 points with last year's CQ WW Contests, moving him into fourth overall.
Four team leader slots are available in EU #1, which will make for a hotly contested final few contests for the 2010 WRTC

As mentioned above in EU #2, OM2VL remains the leader, after chalking up 1658 points in last year's CQ WW tests. In second on his own is Bernd Och DL6FBL, who grabbed 950 points in the 2007 CQ WW CW contest as SV9CVY. Och will be back in SV9 for this year's CQ WW SSB.
Five team leader slots are available from EU #2, Braco Memic OE1EMS, Philippe LUtty and Manfred Wolf DJ5MW round out the top five in the standings. Wolf is the only new one in the group, as he knocked out HA3OV, who fell to eighth place overall.

The CQ WW DX Contests gave a big push to Tonno Vahk ES5TV, who now leads this Baltic regional. The Estonian contester used a regional win in last year's CQ WW SSB and CW tests to add twin 950's to his totals.
"I will definitely try to do my best again this year intending to take the top spot in my WRTC region if I can," Vahk told radio-sport.net.
He will need that to hold off Toni Linden OH2UA for the top spot. Linden repeated his twin CQ WW victories in the EU #1 regional while operating as CU2A in the Azores, and he'll be back there again this year.
Under the qualifying rules though, Linden won't be eligible for any more WRTC points, because he already has four scores from outside of his home region, which is all that is allowed.
The other three ops who find themselves in the qualifying slots right now include Dainius Savicius LY6M, who fell from the lead on this update. Also still in the hunt, Jurrgis Ignotas LY2CY and Ged Lucinskas LY3BA, who are in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Last year's CQ WW DX Contests helped to solidify the lead of Andy Kotovsky UU4JMG, as he took 798 points in CQ WW CW to bolster his top spot in EU #4.
Kotovsky expanded his lead over Roman Tkachenko UR0MC, who remained in second place.
The next three spots saw a bit of a shake-up as Tine Brajnik jumped into third place thanks to strong results in both CQ WW tests, while Hrane Milosevic YT1AD dropped to fourth, even after nabbing 950 points in the CW test.
The last qualifying spot is held by YO3JR, as five different stations will qualify as team leaders.
That group of five may get a new call soon though, as Ranko Boca 4O3A is lurking just behind YO3JR, with only six scores.
As you look at the spreadsheet for EU #4, don't forget UU0JM, UT5UGR and 9A9A have been disqualified from the WRTC competition. They calls are colored in aqua blue.
Under the 2010 WRTC rules, anyone who is DQ'd from a WRTC qualifying contest is not eligible for the competition in Russia.
Radio-sport.net will continue to list the totals of the disqualified stations in the spreadsheets, but not in the overall summaries printed here.

As mentioned at the outset, the overall European leader is also the leader of the European Russian region, EU #5, as Vladimir Askenov RW1AC heads the Russian WRTC battle.
Unlike the rest of Europe, EU #5 only has two team leader slots available, and right now that still belongs to Igor Burykh UA3QDX. While the scores changed because of the CQ WW DX 2007 results, the top five in this qualifying region all remained the same.
In fourth place overall is another disqualified entrant, as Valery Komarov was DQ'd in the 2007 EU HF Championships. His scores will remain in the radio-sport.net spreadsheets, but will not be listed here. EU #5 is European Russia
