Looking to lead his fellow Russians into the 2010 WRTC Championships, Vladimir Askenov RW1AC continues hold the top qualifying score in all of Europe, as contesters there battle for 21 qualifying spots in the World Radiosport Team Championships.
All five regional leaders in December kept their leads as radio-sport.net added in the results of the 2007 WAE SSB, 2007 IARU and 2007 CQ WPX SSB Contests.
One of the tightest races is in Western Europe as Philippe Nouchi F6IFY leads EU #1 by just 21 points over Matteo Marzilli IZ3EYZ.
Nouchi had a top score in the 2007 IARU, but because he has already reached his limit of four multi-op scores, he did not add anything to his totals. That meant Marzilli's regional win in WPX SSB pulled him to a close second.
The top four operators in EU #1 all qualify as WRTC team leaders.
Here are the top five results in that region as determined by radio-sport.net. A full spreadsheet link for each region is available.
EU #1 includes 3A-9H-C3-EA-EA6-CT-CU-F-G-EI-I-T7-TK-ZB2

In EU #2, Ladislav Vegh OM2VL slightly increased his lead with top scores in the WAE SSB and WPX SSB. He now leads Bernd Och DL6FBL by over 1400 points.
Five team leader slots are available in EU #2 and here are their scores: EU #2 has ON-PA-LX-DL-OE-HB-HB0-SP-OK-OM-HA

The closest regional race in the entire world is EU #3, where Jurgis Ignotas LY2CY leads Dainius Savicius LY6M by only three points.
The top five scorers qualify for a WRTC team leader slot. All five stayed in the same position from the last radio-sport.net review in December 2007.
EU #3 is SM-LA-OH-OZ-OY-TF-JW-JX-LY-YL-ES

Region EU #4 saw the biggest changes of any European qualifying battle, even as Andy Kotovsky UU4JMG kept and expanded his overall lead with top finishes in all three newly recorded contests.
Now in second place is Andi Kazantsev UU0JM, who is just ahead of Roman Tkachenko UR0MC.
Kazantsev though is out of the competition, after being disqualified from the 2007 CQ WPX CW contest. Those results were announced earlier this month in CQ Magazine.
Under the 2010 WRTC rules, anyone who is disqualified from a qualifying contest is not eligible for the competition in Russia.
That now includes not only Kazantsev UU0JM, but also Dimitry Stashuk UT5UGR, who was disqualified from the 2007 IARU Contest. Also DQ'd from the IARU was three-time WRTC vet Emil Balen 9A9A.
Radio-sport.net will continue to list the totals of the disqualified stations in the spreadsheets, but not in the overall summaries printed here. EU #4 is UR-EW-ER-LZ-SV-YO-YU-S5-9A-ZA-Z3-T9-4O

As mentioned at the outset, the overall European leader is also the leader of the European Russian region, EU #5, as Vladimir Askenov RW1AC heads the Russian WRTC battle.
Unlike the rest of Europe, EU #5 only has two team leader slots available, and right now that belongs to Igor Burykh UA3QDX.
EU #5 is European Russia
(Radio-sport.net has tried to be as accurate as possible. If you find a mistake, or feel your score line is missing a contest result, please send us an email and we will be happy to check and correct the numbers. Please remember that it is your responsiblity to track your progress and submit your score to the WRTC sponsors.)
You will note that some scores in the spreadsheets have been colored in. All multi-ops are noted with a yellow background. Scores from a contest operation outside of your home WRTC region are colored in blue.
A score that was both outside your home region and from a multi-op has a purple color.
The qualifying rules stipulate that no more than four of your eight best scores can come from a multi-operator effort - AND no more than four of your scores can be from outside your "home" region.
