WRTC Asia: JH4UYB, UA9CLB, UN9LW Still Lead Three Asian Qualifying Races For Russia 2010

The results of three more contests from 2008 did little to change the qualifying races in Asia for the 2010 World Radiosport Team Championships in Russia.

The leader in the all-Japan regional AS #1 continues to be Masaki Masa Okano JH4UYB, who owns the best score in the world in WRTC qualifying.

Okano is doing so well that a first place regional finish in the 2008 CQ WPX CW contest didn't add any points to his 7,100 score, as he leads second place JF1SQC by over 2700 points.

JH4UYB was the first op in the world to qualify for a WRTC team leader slot.

Over in AS #2, Vadim Ovasiannikov UA9CLB remains in the lead of that qualifying region, with Yuri Kurinyi UA9AM in a strong second position, 945 points behind.

Both men had the top two scores in the WAE CW, as they moved further ahead of the field. Ovasiannikov has the second most points in world qualifying at 6,910.

In region AS #3, which comprises all areas in Asia outside of Japan and Asiatic Russia, it was much the same story, as the top two operators in that region also used the WAE CW to move further ahead in the battle for three qualifying slots.

Vladimir Vinichenko UN9LW saw his lead reduced to 519 points over Steve Hodgson ZC4LI, as Hodgson posted his eighth qualifying score overall.

The third qualifying position is still in the hands of Champ E21EIC, who has a just under 500 point edge on fourth place 9K2RR.

AS #1 is Japan.

There are no more qualifying events left for stations in Asia, but results must still come in from three contests, the 2008 CQ WW DX SSB and CW tests and the 2009 Russian DX contest.

The qualifying rules allow you to submit your top eight scores from certain contests. No more than four may be from multi-operator efforts.

You will note that some scores in the spreadsheets have been colored in. All multi-ops are noted with a yellow background. Scores from a contest operation outside of your home WRTC region are colored in blue.

A score that was both outside your home region and from a multi-op has a purple color.
